Manslide

There’s a place
I live
inside us both
where, all year round,
thick long-stem roses grow
through the soft
marshmallow snow
straight up to the sun,
whose rays, refracted
through the ruby petals,
help keep our secret world
aglow. The crimson
blood that drips
from every thorn
onto the snow below
forms a geothermal
pool of sympathy,
a warm bath of love
bestride the hemispheres
we each inhabit,
earthless,
tumbling like reckless
geese from the heavens,
an avalanche of
the dispossessed &
the dictatored,
mansliding north toward
the forlorn caves.
